Earl W. Glazier, Jr. DRFC Class of 1959, of Buckingham, PA passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family on Friday, November 27, 2015. Earl was 78 years old. He was the beloved husband of late Kathryn and is survived by his loving children, Earl III, Wendy Brainard, and Matthew, and his son in-law Bob Brainard, daughters in-law Marie and Page, and 4 grandchildren.
Earl was a graduate of William Penn Charter School, Dartmouth College, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. As a member of the historic Dartmouth rugby team that invaded London in December 1958, Earl was part of the first U.S. college team to go to England and play the Brits at the game they "invented" in 1823. That 1958/1959 team was also the first U.S. team to play under the banner of President Eisenhower's "People to People Sports Program", a program that was created to generate international goodwill through sports (and a program that still exists today, some 57 years later). Earl remained a loyal and generous supporter of Dartmouth Rugby throughout his life.
Earl also served as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps which was followed by an executive career in International Banking. His chosen career path allowed him to live in and experience many countries where he developed deep and lasting friendships. Private services in honor of his life and memory will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church of Solebury, PA on December 12. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in his memory to Doylestown Health or to the Friends of Dartmouth Men’s Rugby.
